The moment when our body systems become too dangerous for us to live in can be so disheartening, thus, creating an imbalance and a psychological breakdown for us. Inflammation is the process by which our body’s white blood cells and the substance they produce protect us from infection with foreign organisms such as bacteria and viruses that would lead to a healthy life for us. But what could be said when what should be protecting us now becomes the danger in our bodies?

Just like inflammation, it could grow to become diseases like arthritis, where the body’s defense system (the immune system) triggers an inflammatory response when there are no foreign invaders to fight off. This leads to body’s normal protective immune system start to cause damage to its own tissues thereby seeing and responding to these normal tissues as being infected, dangerous or somehow abnormal.

Chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS), which is also known as myalgia encephalomyelitis (ME) has been found to be one of the results of chronic inflammation. This is caused by extreme tiredness, muscle pain, sleep disorders, headaches and flu-like symptoms which are always attached to or follow an illness, infection or traumatic event such as a car accident or sustaining severe injury during sport. Others may be linked to oxidative stress, Celiac disease, and food sensitivities or food allergies. CFS/ME can last for many weeks and as far as six months or more in the body.

While Fibromyalgia is a disorder of the central nervous system that causes widespread pain on various specific parts of the body but because there is no test for this chronic pain disorder, doctors may want to tell you either of the following because they mimic fibromyalgia: Arthritis, Multiple sclerosis, Lupus, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Depression, Hypothyroidism and Polymyalgia rheumatic. No, they are not.

Therefore, the symptoms of CFS/ME are joint pain that moves from one spot to another, muscle pain, poor concentration, loss of memory, enlarged lymph nodes, headaches, chills, night sweats and digestive disorders like irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Other psychological symptoms are significant alterations in levels of irritability, mood swings, panic attacks, anxiety and depression.

How then can one sooth or battle Chronic Fatigue Syndrome? Though, it was medically proven and advised by National Institute of Health and Care Excellence (NICE) in the UK that treatment of CFS/ME should be offered according to a treatment plan tailored to individual’s symptoms. Yet, there are general ways of battling it out of the body that was grouped into steps in an article on draxe.com.

  • Avoid completely Food Sensitivities and Allergens: More than enough research is pointing a link between food allergies and sensitivities and chronic fatigue syndrome. It was finalized that allergies to certain foods, pollen, metals and other environmental chemicals may be causing the rising number of individuals with CFS/ME. It was obvious in these researches that the common denominator, researchers in this study believe, is poor digestion and food sensitivities.
  • Increase Vitamin B Intake: Reduction in vitamin B intake has been found to have a direct link with chronic fatigue syndrome. Vitamin B-6 helps to prevent and relieve fatigue, and it supports a healthy immune system and helps support T-cell functioning, allowing them to more severely fight infections.

  • Increase Potassium and Magnesium Intake: Research reveals that both potassium and magnesium can help improve the symptoms associated with chronic fatigue syndrome. If you have CFS/ME, consider adding food rich in magnesium and potassium to help relieve these symptoms, particularly when foods that cause allergies have been removed.

  • Build Peace and Relax: CFS/ME can lead to suffering from persistent exhaustion, reduced brain cognition, chronic muscle and joint pain, stress, and even guilt takes a toll on the body, and psyche. To really seek the peace you want from CFS, long-term stress control and relaxation must be a vital portion of any protocol used to overcome CFS though, it may seem impossible but, it is imperative that patients of CFS do their best to effectively manage stress and rest.
