I have seen so many slanders and discrimination about breast from so many people on social media and off, from males and even from females, it just tells me they know little or nothing about breast. It irks me every time, hence this article.
For those that do not know, Women’s breasts are made of specialized tissue that produces milk (glandular tissue) as well as fatty tissue. The amount of fat determines the size of the breast.
The milk-producing part of the breast is organized into 15 to 20 sections, called lobes. Within each lobe are smaller structures, called lobules, where milk is produced. The milk travels through a network of tiny tubes called ducts. The ducts connect and come together into larger ducts, which eventually exit the skin in the nipple. The dark area of skin surrounding the nipple is called the areola.
Connective tissue and ligaments provide support to the breast and give it its shape. Nerves provide sensation to the breast. The breast also contains blood vessels, lymph vessels, and lymph nodes.
You’ve definitely seen different shapes and sizes of breast and sometimes wonder why some are the way they are. Yes, it must have crossed your mind a couple of time cos it definitely did mine while growing up. While some have probably spent their whole life describing boobs as either big or small, and even or uneven like I have to mine (a little bit uneven tho)
As we all know which we sometimes hate to admit, women have one of different sets of breasts and they are all named, some after the shape of fruits but definitely not the names you know some to be
I will be shedding light on different boob’s shapes and sizes, time for us to learn and stop the discriminatory remarks (it isn’t cute)
- ArchetypeThe archetypal breast are round and full with a small point at the nipple. This is considered the “standard” for breast type and said the most common shape, so it’s what most bra manufacturers model their designs after.
These set of boobs, one is larger or smaller than the other. It’s pretty common for breasts to be uneven by a cup size or less, and more than half of people have some variation between breast sizes.
One can even out the breast with push up bras or pad but in most cases it is not noticeable.
Athletic breasts are wider, more muscular-looking, and have less tissue. A wireless bra is perfect for wider boobs, it’ll provide comfort and support!
Don’t be confused, not only athlete come with these kinds, you have them because they are perfect for you.
- Bell shape
Shape with close resemblance to a bell, with a narrow top and a rounder bottom. They are thinner at the top and fuller at the bottom.
A comfy, lifting T-shirt bra would work best for your shape.
- Close set
These ones have no separation or a very small gap between them. They sit closer to the center of your chest, creating more distance between your underarm and your breast.
Conical breasts are shaped more like cones, rather than round. This shape is considered to be more common in smaller breasts than larger ones.
So its looks like a closed cleavage
- East West
If your nipples point outward in opposite directions, away from the center of your body, then your breast type is East West.
The recommended bra is push-up bras, as they will help gather your breasts to the front of your chest.
The Relaxed breasts have looser breast tissue and nipples that point downward, the boobs are hanging downwards and have lax tissue.
Though a T-shirt or push-up bra will definitely give them a little lift, it’s totally fine to embrace your boobs as they are.
Round breasts have an equal amount of fullness, they are fully circular and equal at the top and bottom of the breasts.
If you have this shape, you can pretty much pull off any style of bra.
- Side set
Side-set breasts are further apart, with more space between them, that is, they have little space between them.
A front close bra, one that fastens in the front would be ideal for your breast type.
Slender breasts are narrow and long, with nipples pointing downwards. This means the boobs are on the thinner side, they probably don’t take up your entire chest.
Bras with a deep plunge can help gather your breasts towards the center.
The teardrop shape is round and the bottom is just a little fuller than the top. Similar to round breasts, the tear drop shape is circular, but the boobs are a little less full at the top.
You can also rock any type of bra if you have this type.
You see, all boobs and nipples are totally normal, but identifying your exact shape can find you the best bras for your shape. Breasts are unique, and it’s perfectly OK that they have their own distinctive shape and size. The only thing that isn’t normal is unexplained pain and sensitivity.
Although some breasts have characteristics associated with multiple types and can’t be boxed into one specific category.
What determines the shape?
A few factors can determine why your breasts are the way they are and no, it’s not because of too much foreplay or fondle (continue doing that if you enjoy it)
Genetics have the biggest say, by far. Your genes influence your breast density, tissue, size, and more.
- Weight. Fat is a large part of your breast tissue and density, so you may notice a difference in your breast shape as you gain or lose weight.
- Exercise. Your breasts might look firmer or perkier if you build up the muscles behind your breast tissue by strengthening your pecs.
- Age. Your breasts will naturally sag as you get older, so over time, your breasts may become longer and shift to face downward.
- Pregnancy and breastfeeding. Your hormones during pregnancy and breastfeeding can make your breasts swell and change the way the fat and tissue are distributed throughout your breasts.
