You cannot place Burnaboy with the likes of Rema, Fireboy or Asake.
Let’s argue with fact for or against this statement made by Davido.

For arguememt sake, is it safe to say Davido’s set should be WizKid, Olamide, Tiwa savage, Seyi Shay, and many artist that have come and gone without including Burnaboy?
Burnaboy’s hit song was “like to party” back in 2012 but before 2011, but Burnaboy infact had abeg abeg abeg in 2011, Which was in his debut album L.I.F.E (2013).
Before the likes of like to party, there was Best of Burn series, vol 1 released before Davido’s back when in 2011 and there’s also “trumpet” by Burnaboy which he featured Davido
He has been in the music world delivering tunes and “classic Burna” but became more popular and rose to stardom in 2012 after releasing “Like to Party”, the lead single from his debut studio album L.I.F.E (2013).

Are we saying we cannot put Davido, WizKid and Burnaboy in the same category because Burnaboy wasnt winning “artist of the year” or “next rated” or going on tours? But, these same artist had discographies that put them in the same time frame, the difference is the blow up.
With his discography you cannot place him with the likes of Rema, fireboy or Asake.
In comparison with Burnaboy, let’s have a look at Rema, fireboy, etc first song, first hit and debut album.
Rema’s debut single Iron man was in 2019, his hit song Dumebi was that same year.
Fireboy released a debut single “jealous” in 2019 followed by a debut album “laughter, tears and goosebumps” later that year.
Asake dropped Ayeeza in 2018 but became more popular with debut single Mr money in 2020, then he released his debut studio album “Mr. Money with the Vibe” on September 8, 2022.
Mayorkun dropped “eleko” in 2016 which was his first song and hit and dropped his debut album in 2018 “the mayor of Lagos”.
One fact which will stand is, Burnaboy became internationally recognised and dominating industries in recent time which so many Nigerian artist would die for and thank God for good music, fans, streaming platforms and social media but putting him side by side with new artist that started in 2018 is very insulting and diminishing all the hardwork he has put into his craft.

Davido is partially right, Burna just started dominating the industry which justifies Davido's "New cat" statement; Burna is nowhere near Wizkid or Davido even with a Grammy win, but putting Burna in the same list with upcomers like Rema, Fireboy & Mayorkun is truly insulting.
