Olanrewaju Fasasi popularly known as Sound Sultan, a legendary Nigerian musician who passed on Sunday, July 11, 2021, at the age of 44 was laid to rest that same day according to Muslim rites at the Marlboro Muslim cemetery in New Jersey.
The sad news broke the entertainment industry, his fans and Nigerians at large, it was a sad Sunday as so many expressed their shock on social media for their friend, colleague, mentor and superstar untimely passing. His songs took over the airwaves, tweets and posts of how amazing a human he was, his goodwill, his activism and passionate about issues in the country through music.
Two months after reports claimed Sound Sultan was undergoing chemotherapy in a hospital in the United States of America, The singer passed away Sunday, July 11, 2021.
His death was announced by a family member in a statement signed by his relative, Kayode Fasasi claimed the singer died after “a hard fought battle with Angioimmunoblastic T-cell Lymphoma,” a rare form of non-Hodgkin lymphoma, which is a group of related malignancies (cancers) that affect the lymphatic system (lymphomas).
Olanrewaju Fasasi, the rapper, singer, songwriter, actor, comedian and basketball club co-owner who is survived by his wife, Farida, three children and siblings was laid to rest in the presence of and his wife and close family members. The ceremony was hosted live on Instagram by His colleague, Lamboginny showed family members and Olamide present at the funeral.
His demise is a loss to Nigeria.
